Was war mein Fehler?

For Freedom: Journey Away From Oppression

Hello…I wish I could introduce myself but this is not possible…As a matter of fact, as a person who lives in a country where people got killed in the Armenian Deportation like in the Holocaust, my name does not matter. I am a victim of the purge like the other hundreds of thousands of victims in my country right now. I was born in Europe. As I came back to my country when I was 7 years old, I was naturally very happy to not have been aware that in my future, I would be called a terrorist. I was going to complete elementary, secondary and college education and start to work in one of the priceless cities of my country. This beautiful city was going to introduce me to my spouse and the Hizmet movement…

Özgürlük Uğruna

Merhaba…

A Breath

Many years ago, a poet, who didn’t even share the same world view as mine, had to flee his country, much like I did, for being labeled a ‘traitor’ said: “My lonely and beautiful country…” You don’t choose where you are born, geography is a matter of fate, so the ‘loneliness’ became the fate for the ‘beautiful’ people of this country for many generations…

Exile

Everyone around me started to disappear. Those who used to smile at me before began to change their ways whenever they saw me. Those who praised my character, my career, and my diligence started to talk behind my back. I was declared an enemy of the state by people to whom I had never done anything evil. They had already chosen their sides, and unfortunately, I was left on the opposite side. What was my mistake? I had spoken out, and I had aligned myself with those who bravely shouted “The emperor has no clothes.”…
