Commissioner issued a comprehensive Memorandum on March 5, 2024, assessing the state of freedom of expression, media, and human rights defenders in Turkey calling for urgent measures to address these challenges, emphasizing alignment with international human rights standards.

Advocates of Silenced Turkey Commemorate Victims in Heartfelt Event

In a recent event held on Thursday, September 17th, the Advocates of Silenced Turkey (AST) organized an event titled ‘Yiten Canlara Vefa’, ‘Loyalty to Lost Lives’ at the New Jersey Baymont by Wyndham Hotel.

KAHRAMANMARAŞ DEPREMLERİNDE İNSAN HAKLARI İHLALLERİ ÖN RAPORU 2023

Türkiye, dünyanın en aktif deprem kuşaklarından birisi üzerinde bulunmaktadır. Yakın tarih incelendiğinde, büyük depremler olarak 1939 Erzincan, 1941 Van-Erciş, 1946 Varto, 1967 Adapazarı, 1971 Bingöl, 1976 Denizli, 1992 Erzincan, 1995 Dinar, 1998 Ceyhan ve 1999 Marmara ve Düzce, 2003 Bingöl, 2011 Van, 2020 Elazığ ve 2021 İzmir depremleri kaydedilmiştir. Türkiye’de depremlere yönelik bir hazırlık ve planlama yapılması amacıyla, 1945 (Yersarsıntısı Bölgeleri Haritası), 1947, 1963 (Türkiye Deprem Bölgeleri Haritası), 1972, 1996 ve 2019 (Türkiye Deprem Tehlike Haritası) yıllarında deprem bölgeleri haritaları hazırlanmış ve geliştirilerek 6 kez güncellenmiştir. Bu kapsamda, bölgesel çalışmalar yapılmış ve örneğin 2020 yılında AFAD tarafından hazırlanan Kahramanmaraş İl Afet Riski Azaltma Planı ile depreme yönelik bir hazırlık öngörüsü geliştirilmiştir.

Being the Other Child in Turkey

The current regime in Turkey, supported by the State of Emergency (OHAL) and Statutory Decrees (KHK), which is still in effect de facto albeit discontinued de jure, has been carrying out an open and covert social genocide against some parts of Turkey for years. The members of the Hizmet movement, whose number reaches approximately 8.5 million, including their relatives, were exposed to social lynching, direct and indirect rights violations, and grievances that are difficult to compensate. Similarly, along with the policy of persecuting Kurds by denying their ethnic identity, discriminatory and oppressive practices against certain groups such as Alevis and leftists continue.

Türkiye’de Öteki Çocuk Olmak

Türkiye’de Olağanüstü Hal (OHAL) ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnameler (KHK) ile sürdürülen rejim, toplumun bazı kesimlerine yönelik yıllardır açık ve örtülü şekillerde bir sosyal soykırım yürütmektedir. Hizmet Hareketi üyelerine yönelik yürütülen toplumsal linç ile, yakınları ile birlikte sayıları 8,5 milyona ulaşan bireyler, doğrudan ve dolaylı olarak hak ihlallerine uğradı, telafisi zor mağduriyetler yaşadı. Devletin onlarca yıldır dışladığı Kürtler üzerindeki baskı ve onların etnik kimliklerini inkar politikası aynen devam ederken, Aleviler ve solcular gibi belli kesimlerin maruz kaldığı ayrımcı ve baskıcı uygulamalar da varlığını sürdürüyor.

When the Turkish President declared in an infamous speech that “Old Turkey no longer exists. This Turkey is new Turkey”, the story of Turkish authoritarianism had once and for all taken on a new character. Since July of 2016, the Turkish government has improperly imprisoned 160,000+ homemakers, teachers, NGO workers, academics, judges, prosecutors and journalists.

Erdoğan Türkiye’sinde 143 Sosyal Soykırım Uygulaması

BU KİTAP, TÜRKİYE’DE SİYASİ REJİMİNİN MUHALİFLERE YÖNELİK İŞLEDİĞİ İNSANLIĞA KARŞI SUÇLARIN BİR LİSTESİDİR.

Türkiye’de 20 Temmuz 2016’da ilan edilen OHAL Kararnamelerinin ardından, kanunda suç olmayan sebeplerle 2 milyondan fazla kişi hakkında terör soruşturması açıldı. 152 bin kamu çalışanı mesleğinden ihraç edildi. 17 bini kadın ve 3 binden fazlası bebek ve çocuk, 300 bini aşkın insan cezaevlerinde tutsak edildi. KHK’larla bin 598 dernek, 560 vakıf, 29 sendika, 33 televizyon ve 34 radyo kanalı, 50 gazete ve dergi, bin 604 okul, 360 dersane, 847 yurt, 15 üniversite ve 985 ticari şirkete el konuldu. Stres, bunalım, hastalık, göç ve işkence sebebi ile, aralarında 79 çocuğun da bulunduğu binden ziyade kişi hayatını kaybetti.

TORTURERS REPORT – 2 – Torture and Human Rights Violations in Turkey

Advocates of Silenced Turkey (AST) prepares reports to record and document crimes against human dignity, such as torture and ill-treatment, which have become systematic in Turkey. The report in your hand is the second part of the study, which was prepared in order to register those who were involved in this crime, their instigators, those who encouraged the crime by praising it, and those who protected the torturer public officials by abuse of power. The report aims to be a record so that torturers will one day be held to an independent legal account.

İŞKENCECİLER RAPORU – 2 – Türkiye’de İşkence ve Hak İhlalleri

Susturulmuş Türkiye’nin Avukatları (Advocates of Silenced Turkey – AST), Türkiye’de sistematik hale gelen işkence ve kötü muamele gibi insanlık onuruna karşı işlenen suçların kayda geçirilmesi için raporlar hazırlamaktadır. Elinizdeki rapor, bu suça karışanların, azmettiricilerinin, suçu överek teşvik edenlerin, görevini kötüye kullanarak işkenceci kamu görevlilerini koruyanların delillerle kayıt altına alınması ve bir gün bağımsız hukuk önünde hesap verebilmeleri amacıyla hazırlanan çalışmanın ikinci bölümüdür.

Thousands of refugees fleeing their homeland due to violence, terror, or political prosecution use Greece as an entry gate to Europe. Since the beginning of 2014, over 1.1 million refugees have crossed the borders of Greece. (1) Growing numbers of refugees have begun to use Evros as a passage from Turkey to Greece.

In the last couple of years, a significant number of Turkish citizens have also begun to cross the border between Turkey and Greece and sought asylum due to the Turkish government’s targeting of dissidents belonging to different ideologies, particularly the Gulen Movement. Advocates of Silenced Turkey appreciates all the Greek government did to welcome genuine Turkish refugees, who have escaped in fear of their life and freedom. It is important to understand that those who are not able to leave are subjected to social death and are not accepted as fully human by the wider society.
